Belmont sorority Alpha Sigma Tau’s entire executive council was asked to step down in late February, but headquarters will not release why the sorority changed leadership, said a SELD administrator.
AST also postponed its event “Mardi Tau” on Feb. 26, according to its Facebook page.
“Normally, I am happy to provide answers, but the process that removed the former EC was not a Belmont process so it would not be appropriate for me to speak to it,” said Amy Coles, director of student activities, in an email.
The Vision contacted Alpha Sigma Tau’s headquarters, including Ben Nemenoff, director of marketing and communications, and Kirsten Heck, Gamma Pi, chapter services coordinator, but never received a response as to why the chapter’s executive council had to resign.
Additionally, the Vision reached out to the former members of the executive council, but again, received no answer.
More details about the story will come when more information becomes available.
