Belmont owns Boulevard with 100-point game, 16-point win

The 137th Battle of the Boulevard tipped off Tuesday with the Bruins coming out on top over the Bisons 105-89 for Belmont’s first 100-point game on the season.

“It’s a huge deal, it takes away the pain of losing,” said senior guard Craig Bradshaw.

Lipscomb is ahead in the series 73-63, but this win marks Belmont’s eighth-straight victory.

The Bruins got off to a hot start after winning the tip-off followed by a Bradshaw three-pointer. The Bruins had a total of 16 threes on the game shooting 52 percent from behind the arc.

“We played really good offensively. We shot 16-31 from three,” said Bradshaw.

The Bruins and Bisons traded streaks throughout the game, but a 9-point run in the beginning of the of the first half and a 7-point run later put the Bruins ahead.

Junior guard Taylor Barnette had a great second half as he lead the team with 22 points on the night while Craig Bradshaw followed closely with 20 points.

Lipscomb was able to work up a run at the end of the first half and coming out of the locker room, the Bisons tied the game up at the start of the second half.

“Defensively we need to work on that a little bit we had a little bit of trouble guarding the ball the 2nd half,” said Bradshaw.

Belmont responded with great play from behind the arch and worked its way back to a double-digit lead. The Bruins kept their lead to close out the game and come out on top.

The next game is not one to miss, tune in to ESPN3 to watch the Bruins take on the Crusaders from Valparaiso at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3.
