Christian Showcase opens series

It’s that time of year again — Belmont’s annual showcase series kicks off Saturday with the popular Christian Showcase.

Four Belmont student acts will take the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Curb Event Center.

Bands and soloist chosen for the showcase are The Weight of Glory, Chandler Roberts, Haley Hamilton and Rayvon Owens.

“The styles of Christian music in this show are all very different, making for a fun show with a lot of variety,” said Andrew Sullivan, this year’s Christian Showcase producer.

“We bring in production from Clair Brothers Audio, Bandit Lites, and Media Visions, but the shows are entirely student run,” he said. Sponsoring the showcase is College of Entertainment and Music Business.

In addition to the four competing talents, songwriters and hosts of the event Chad Cates and Michael Boggs will perform.

The unique styles the artists will bring to this showcase will bring in an audience of about 2,000, Sullivan said. Students attending the showcase will receive music business seminar credit.
