MULTIMEDIA: Tasty treats now just down the street with Jeni’s opening

Thursday evening marked the grand opening of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams’ second Nashville location in the historical 12South neighborhood.

The store officially opens for business today.

“We’ve been looking for a location on 12South since we opened our first store in East Nashville in 2011. And we finally did,” said Jacob Winger the Nashville operations manager at Jeni’s. “We’re pretty particular about where we open our locations. We are looking for neighborhoods that are good fits; neighborhoods that care, not only about good food but family values as well. And 12South just embodies that.”

Grace Adele and the Grand Band, a local Americana group, provided the entertainment to the devoted customers waiting with the promise of two free scoops of their favorite flavors.

Customers were offered a variety of obscure flavors including but not limited to; Lemon Raspberry, Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Bananas and Honey, Salted Caramel and their newest flavor Loveless Biscuits and Peach Jam, featuring crumbles of Loveless Café inspired biscuits and peach jam swirled into buttermilk ice cream.

“I am so excited about this new store. The 12South neighborhood is the perfect fit for us and I am so happy everything fell into place so easily. In fact, tomorrow night Jeni’s is opening up its first store in Chicago and we’re all really excited about that. But Nashville is definitely our favorite location,” said co-owner and creator Jeni Britton Bauer.
