Phi Mu to host Bonnamu on Friday

Phi Mu will continue its annual Bonnamu fall philanthropy event on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bell Tower patio.

Taking its cue from the Tennessee music festival Bonnaroo, this year’s Bonnamu lineup features several Belmont artists and bands including Alyssa Newton, Gracie Schram, Damsel in Distress, Madeline Enna, the Lockets and Lady Layne.

In past years, Phi Mu has raised $5,000 to $6,000 from the event. All the funds go toward Phi Mu’s philanthropy, the Children’s Miracle Network.

“They fundraise for hospitals so the people who go to those hospitals never get a bill,” said Phi Mu Philanthropy Chair Elizabeth Haag.

Right now, the money will also go toward the hospital building new floors, said Haag.

To represent and raise awareness for the philanthropy, everyone who attends will get a CMN hospital band as their ticket, Haag said. Tickets are $5.

Phi Mu President McKenzie Roberts is excited to see people get a feel for both the music scene and Belmont Greek life at the event, she said.

“This is going to be something that bridges all Greek life together, they can come support us as we’ve come supported them,” said Roberts.
