Goth Prom Hits East Nashville
The stage at Goth Prom. (Ava Burns) The bass billowed from the venue, masking the sounds of bowling pins being knocked over and drinks being made at the bar. People in fairy costumes to knights in shining armor lined up, ready for a night of excitement. The electric music reverberated in the chests of the audience, and lyrics soared through the air. This is goth prom, an annual event hosted by East Side Bowl which celebrates a traditionally underrepresented group of people. T

In-N-Out Followed Me to Tennessee
Customers line up at In-N-Out. (Austin Embry) Waiting for two hours in near-freezing weather for a fast-food burger sounds like insanity to most, but I would sleep on the cold pavement for a bite. Of course, I could opt for the drive-thru line instead, but it raises the wait time to four hours. Even the merchandise stands lines begin to overflow too, making the newly-paved lot even more of a maze. Employees chat with antsy patrons and hand out free paper hats while they tal

Silent Book Club celebrates its second birthday in the warm glow of The Sun Room at the Drift Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Although, “silent” remains up for debate. WNXP’s Marquis Munson DJs on the edge of the room, surrounding the readers in the subtle sounds of Olivia D

Independent Developers: The Future Of Nashville Gaming
Belmont Vision Multimedia. (Zach Watkins) Across the city, groups of gamers and developers huddle in coworking spaces, coffee shops and office buildings. Sled Smart: Creative Ways to Celebrate the Snow Days
Belmont Vision Multimedia, Nick Rampe With a forecast of heavy snow over the weekend, some Belmont students will participate in snow day activities for the first time. Nashville is under a winter storm warning and can expect to see between three-to-eight inches of snow over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. This opens the possibility for cancelled classes, less students outside and, of course, sledding. “I’ve never sledded before… that would be so

Santa’s Pub: A Nashville Staple Finds New Life After the Legend Behind It Passes
Photo via @santaspub on Instagram. On any given night at Santa’s Pub, the mic might be in the hands of a seasoned singer, a first-time tourist or someone who has never sung in public before. The atmosphere was shaped by the late owner, Elmer Denzel “Santa” Irwin, who passed away in September at age 75. Known for his signature white beard and his strict no-cursing rule at the mic, he built a place where strangers connected across generations. That unpredictability yet strong s
