Women significantly outnumber men on campus, equality major topic of discussion

The feature photo was taken by Evan Davies as part of the International Day of the Girl event Soles for Souls. Beyonce had it right. Girls really do run the world. Or, at least they have overrun Belmont, according to statistics released earlier this semester by the university in its 2015 official enrollment report. It revealed that Belmont’s student population is made up of 61 percent women, meaning only 39 percent of students—both undergrad and graduate—identify as men. To p

New buildings cause shift in campus traffic

Students and faculty all across campus have maneuvered to the east side of campus after the opening of the R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center, Wedgewood Academic Center and the Randall and Sadie Baskin Center. Last night, a gunman opened fire on students in the Florida State University library, injuring three people before he was killed by police. Campus Security would respond to this situation by first securing the location while coordinating with Nashville’s emergency response services as they arrive on scene, Chief of Campus Security Pa

Belmont will try to curb guns in parking lots law

Belmont University officials are ready to try to internally curb the impact of state legislation allowing gun carry permit holders to leave their guns in their cars on campus. The legislation, Senate Bill 142, allows those who have state-recognized gun carry permits to transport and keep a firearm and ammunition in their cars while in public or private parking lots. Under the policy, students, faculty, staff and visitors with state permits would not be prosecuted for bringin
