Belmont junior Nicholas Geragotelis died Friday in a residence hall, Belmont President Greg Jones said in an email.

While not much is known about the nature of his death, the Metro Nashville Police Department says there is no appearance of foul play, according to Jones’ email.

Geragotelis, who was an audio engineering technology major, was an active member of campus life as a part of various extracurriculars including Belmont Office of Leadership Development, the Audio Engineering Society and he was a staff engineer R.E.M. Studio.

His friends recalled his passion for music and film as some of his defining characteristics, but above all else it was his kind personality that stood out to them.

“He was great, he was respectful, he was very funny, and he was a very nice guy,” said Edgar Perez, Geragotelis’ roommate of two years. “I would consider him one of the OGs in my Belmont journey, he was one of the first friends I made.”

And while his friends saw his caring personality, they were not the only ones.

“He got along with everyone,” said Valorie Quarles, a professor of media studies who had him in class this semester. "He's gone just gone too soon... he had so much to offer the industry he was in and the people around him.”

Belmont Counseling can be reached during hours at 615-460-6856 as well as the TimelyCare app, which is available 24/7 to all students.
