Belmont graduate Kyle Yorlets killed Thursday

Belmont graduate Kyle Yorlets was killed in his home on Thursday.

24-year-old Yorlets was shot and killed by five juveniles in an attempted robbery. The three girls and two boys, all between ages 12 and 16, were arrested later that night, according to an NBC article.

Yorlets, who graduated from Belmont in 2017, worked at a local restaurant and played in a band.

University president Dr. Bob Fisher notified Belmont faculty and students in an email Friday morning.

“I mourn this loss alongside you as we try to make sense of such senseless violence,” he said.

Counseling services and University Ministries’ Pastoral Care Staff are available to students. Faculty and staff can also access a confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Program, Fisher said in the email.
