Belmont partners with Suntrust, builds new Fifth Third ATM

Belmont University has switched primary banks from Fifth Third Bank to Suntrust Bank, but that doesn’t mean the previously-affiliated bank will be taken off of campus.

While the school’s primary ATM near the bookstore will now bear the orange and blue Suntrust logo, a new Fifth Third ATM will be installed next to Bruin Grounds in Bunch Library.

The school changed primary banks after Belmont refinanced a large bond issue with SunTrust last spring, said Steve Lasley, vice president of finance and operations.

“Belmont works with many banks,” he said. “However, the ATM site at the bookstore goes with the bank that is the university’s primary financial operator.”

The Suntrust ATM isn’t operational yet, but it should be ready to go in the next couple of weeks, Lasley said.

Even with the Suntrust addition to Belmont’s campus, the relocated Fifth Third ATM will allow students who hold accounts with Fifth Third the ability to get cash without having to pay fees, said Dr. Andrew Johnston, dean of students. Its location inside the library means that it will be available 24 hours a day Sunday-Thursday and during library hours Friday and Saturday.
