Longtime philanthropist and Belmont University trustee Barbara Massey Rogers died Wednesday evening, Belmont President Greg Jones said.

Rogers, known for her extended working relationship with Belmont, could be seen at many events around campus and even received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2022, according to an email sent out by Jones.

Passionate about her advocacy work, Rogers endowed the university with the funds to provide many scholarships to students and helped fund the Jack C. Massey Center, named after her father.

Known for its financial generosity, the Massey family has long had close ties with Belmont. The Barbara Massey Rogers center was named after her following her donation for the Jack C. Massey Center.

Visitation will be at McAfee Concert Hall on campus Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial at 11 a.m.

Rogers chose the location herself. The concert hall was the former site of Belmont Heights Baptist Church, the place she was baptized.
