Belmont Vision places first overall at SEJC on-site competition

The Belmont Vision took home 11 awards from the Southeast Journalism Conference at Middle Tennessee State University and ranked first overall in the weekend’s on-site sweepstakes competition.

Out of 31 schools and 442 entries, the Vision won five awards in the Best of the South competition Friday night, which included content published on the Vision site from November 2017 to November 2018.

Bronte Lebo won first place for Best News Writer.

Caitlin Alexander won first place for Best TV News Feature Reporter.

Bronte Lebo won third place for Best Feature Writer.

Melissa Kriz won fourth place for Best Opinion-Editorial Writer.

Steven Boero won sixth place for Best Sports Writer.

Members of the staff also competed in an on-site competition during the conference and won six awards.

Joe Bendekovic won first place for News Writing.

Justin Wagner won first place for Current Events.

Rob Redel won first place for Media History, Law and Ethics.

Marissa Avnaim won second place for TV Anchoring.

Jason Saitta won second place for Radio News Reporting.

Carina Eudy won third place for Sports Photography.

Those six awards earned Belmont enough points to place first overall in the on-site sweepstakes.
