Belmont University's student-run news organization, the Belmont Vision, won 14 awards at the 2026 Southeast Journalism Conference at Georgia Highlands College in Cartersville, Georgia.

Each year, student journalists from colleges in the southeastern U.S. compete in two main competitions. The Best of the South awards highlight published articles from the previous year, and the on-site competitions challenge students to produce stories on a tight deadline.

"I'm proud to see all the awards they won, all the hard work they put in finally paying off," said Ty Wellemeyer, former editor in chief of the Vision. "As a former editor, it's good to see that the Vision is still in a good place."

The Belmont Vision placed in six different Best of the South categories.

Haley Ramsey, Georgina America and Nolan Russell placed fourth for special event coverage.

Zach Watkins received an honorable mention for graphic design/data journalism.

Matt Sinofsky placed fifth for best news reporter.

Emily Garver placed second for best TV feature reporter.

Ava Burns placed second for best radio journalist.
