Belmont University’s Curb College secured a spot in Billboard Magazine’s 2025 Top Music Business Schools list for another year.

Billboard Magazine considers factors in the production and business side of the music industry, including facilities, location and connections when analyzing the programs.

“What sets us apart is the combination of rigorous academics with unparalleled industry access,” said Brittany Schaffer, the Curb College dean in a statement to the Vision.

As the only music business program in the country offering an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-accredited Bachelor of Business Administration degree, students said they feel prepared to see the business world beyond music.

“I definitely feel relaxed now, and I do think the actual music business classes I’ve taken I’ve learned sort of what to expect,” said music business student Ashley Day.

Not only do they feel prepared on the business side, but Day said Curb College has been excellent in providing resources for job opportunities beyond Belmont.

“My classes have introduced me to jobs I’ve never considered before. Classes in that way have definitely helped in finding out what’s out there. The career and development office was super, super helpful,” she said.

In addition, Belmont opened a part of its campus on Music Row, including historic studios and renovating it into classrooms, songwriting rooms, student spaces and faculty offices.

“It was so cool to be there. Bob Dylan was here, Patsy Klein and Elvis Costello. I mean, it was just really cool to learn where so many great artists have recorded,” Day said.

Part of the recognition from Billboard includes collaborative programs in the music business curriculum such as the Dolly U program and events with Ed Sheeran, Kelsea Ballerini and Lainey Wilson.

“This recognition reinforces Belmont's position as the premier destination for music business education. For current students, it adds even more value and name recognition to their degree,” Schaffer said.
