Belmont women’s basketball junior standout forward Madison Bartley has announced that she is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Bartley anchored the paint for Belmont as she helped lead the Bruins to a 23-12 record this season.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love and being able to play it at a high level.” Bartley said in an Instagram post announcing her decision. “But I have prayed and talked to my family, and I’ve decided to enter my name into the portal.”

Bartley has played three seasons for the Bruins, officially earning a starting spot in her sophomore year.

During her time as a starter, she helped lead the Bruins to their second NCAA Tournament win in school history over the University of Oregon in 2022 and won multiple conference awards for her impactful play this season.

This season, Bartley had a career season in the Bruins’ first year in Missouri Valley Conference as she averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds, shooting 51% from the field.

The 6’3 forward’s best performance this season came against UIC on March 2 where she scored 31 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Over the course of the season, she collected two-double doubles, MVC Player of the week honors on Jan. 23 and Feb 6. and was named First Team All-MVC.

In her final game in the navy and blue, when the Bruins faced Ball State in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament, she surpassed the 1,000-point mark, becoming the 34th Belmont women’s basketball player to do so.

She will now explore her options of playing elsewhere, waiting to hear from other teams ahead of her senior campaign.

“Stay tuned,” Bartley said.
