Bruin Blitz 10/16-10/20

Men’s Soccer (4-7-2):

10/19 @ Cincinnati:

In a 2-1 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats, the men’s soccer team fell to an unassisted goal by Bearcat  midfielder Will Diebold near the midpoint of the first half, but was able to tie the game with an AJ Arnold goal in the 63rd minute of the second half.

Twenty minutes later, Alan Rovira kicked another unassisted goal to seal the deal for Cincinnati.

Sam Miller led the Bruins with four shots, giving Belmont a 5-3 shot-on-goal advantage.

Belmont will finish its three game road trip with a match at James Madison University this Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Women’s Soccer (4-8-2, 2-4-1 OVC)

10/18 @ SEMO

While SEMO was the first to score, Belmont was able to equalize the score thanks to a Katie Proud goal off of a Cassie Blase throw-in five minutes into the second half.

SEMO was unable to respond, sending the match into overtime where the Redhawks took the match in just 28 seconds.

The Bruins led the Redhawks in shots on goal 11-10, while SEMO took the corner kick advantage 5-3.

10/20 @ UT Martin

Belmont was able to hold the OVC-leading UT Martin Skyhawks to a scoreless match until the midpoint of the second half where Martin scored its first goal in the 65th minute and sealed the victory with a shot just eight minutes later.

Katie Proud and Meg Howard led the Bruins with four shots apiece while Nicole Berner matched a season high nine saves.

The Bruins will continue their four-match road stint with matches at Eastern Kentucky on Friday and Morehead State on Sunday

Volleyball (12-12, 5-3 OVC)

The Bruins were able to reach a four-game winning streak after defeating the SEMO Redhawks in four sets on Friday and straight sets against the UT Martin Skyhawks on Saturday.

Jen Myer led Belmont in kills (17) and digs (40) against the Redhawks while in the match against UT Martin, Scarlet Gable led in kills (11) and Jamie Lundstrom led in digs (12).

Belmont will conclude their four-game homestand this weekend with matches against Tennessee Tech on Friday and Jacksonville State on Saturday.
