GoFundMe started for Belmont student after car accident

Belmont students, friends and family are banding together to support Belmont seniors Calli Luikart and Zach Jamison after a car crash Saturday night.

Luikart and Jamison were critically injured after their car rolled off of a cliff in Williamson County.

Luikart was placed in the ICU at Vanderbilt with a lacerated lung, damaged carotid artery, scalp laceration and broken bones.

Jamison suffered a lacerated lung, fractured vertebrae and a broken sternum. He was released from the hospital on Monday but was later readmitted.

A GoFundMe was launched on Sunday to help with Luikart’s medical expenses. More than $40,000 has been raised by more than 400 donors since the page was started.

“Our family greatly appreciates all the prayers, messages and financial support we have received,” said Luikart’s sister Cheri Rhee. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
