Half-marathon and 5K to close roads around campus

The annual Women’s Running Series Nashville Half-Marathon and 5K takes place Saturday, and the racecourse will have heavy impact on traffic around the Belmont area.

Road closures and detours are expected between 6 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., including Belmont Boulevard, Portland Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard. All three main roads will close at 6 a.m. but will reopen at different times throughout the race.

Portland Avenue will reopen at 10:15 a.m., while both Magnolia and Belmont boulevards will become available at 11 a.m.

Other popular roads among students that will be affected include West End Avenue and the Music Row area.

For alternate routes west of Belmont Boulevard, students are advised to use Interstate 440 and take the 21st exit to reach locations south of Blakemore Avenue. To reach destinations to the east, including Belmont’s campus, it is advised to use Interstate 65 and exit at Wedgewood Avenue.

To exit campus on the morning of the race, students can still access 12th Avenue South and Wedgewood via the Hillside exit and 15th Avenue respectively.

No parking and tow away zones will also be enforced from 4 a.m. until noon. No cars will be permitted to park on Belmont Boulevard, Portland Avenue and the south side of Magnolia. A full list of no-parking zones can be accessed here.

The half-marathon and 5K officially begins at 7 a.m. and is expected to end at noon. The race will start and finish downtown in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
