Many campus buildings to close at 11 p.m.

Most non-residential buildings on campus now close at 11 p.m., a change from past semesters.

Those changes do not apply to the Beaman Student Life Center lobby or the library, and residential students will be able to access the first floor of the Johnson Center to use the garage elevators after hours, said Chief of Campus Security Pat Cunningham.

“Belmont is always evaluating building access. Earlier closing times for some buildings at the start of this semester are a result of that ongoing analysis,” Cunningham said in a statement. “We continue to review the hours campus buildings, and specific spaces, should be open.”

Many students have expressed concern in the Belmont University Student Community Facebook group about the changes, citing the need to edit video and audio after hours in the Johnson Center.

“Students are encouraged to talk to their college dean, the dean of students or the provost about any questions or concerns they have,” Cunningham said.
