For the first time in program history, the men’s basketball team will play the Kentucky Wildcats in the 2013-2014 season.
The Bruins are slated to face the eight-time National Champion Kentucky on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Rupp Arena.
“We are excited about the opportunity to play a historic program like Kentucky in a historic venue like Rupp Arena,” coach Rick Byrd said in a statement. “Our philosophy in non-conference scheduling is well-known; we look for chances to play outstanding competition and provide memorable experiences for our players. This certainly qualifies.”
Belmont is also set to face North Carolina, Richmond, Holy Cross and either Hofstra or Hartford as part of the 2013 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament in November.
