The new Thomas F. Frist Jr. College of Medicine has received its accreditation and will begin with its first class next fall adding to the graduate programs offered at Belmont.
The new College of Medicine comes as a notable addition to Belmont’s graduate programs, joining other programs like Belmont’s law school which just posted a 93.4% passage rate for first-time test takers.
The medical school, housed in a six-story, 246,000-square-foot building, has been under construction for the past three years is entering the final stages of its establishment. The facility is set to open with its inaugural class of 50, who will begin applying in November to begin in July 2024, according to a press release.
“This is a momentous day for the Frist College of Medicine and the entire Belmont community. Please join me in thanking Dean Dr. Anderson Spickard, Provost Dr. David Gregory, Chair of our Board Milton Johnson and the incredible team of leaders who have worked on this initiative since the College was first announced,” said President Greg Jones in a written statement.
“I am so grateful for their efforts, and I’m looking forward to officially welcoming our first class next summer.”
