Although this Murfreesboro, Tenn. native didn’t travel far to get to Belmont, she does go the distance on the track.
Freshman Kiera Weems runs for the both track and cross country teams for Belmont.
Weems loves the big-city feel of Nashville and likes that it’s not too far from home.
“Murfreesboro is a lot smaller and there’s always a lot going on here, so it’s nice,” she said.
When she’s not running the 800 and 1500 meter on the track, Weems works toward her intended degree in Exercise Science.
More specifically, the freshman is, “really looking at the training side,” said Weems.
“I noticed all of the professors were really helpful on explaining what I would need to do to get that degree.”
Weems fell in love with Belmont from the first time she visited the campus.
“When I first visited Belmont, I met the coach and some professors and I realized, ‘This is the university for me.”
