With over 200 clubs and organizations represented, hundreds of students surrounded the campus to find a community to join at the BruinLink fair on Thursday.

The fair consisted of interest groups, academic and professional organizations, fraternity and sorority life, faith-based groups and a wide variety of campus organizations.

Both returning and new students had the opportunity to talk to groups that might interest them and find organizations to join.

“This is the biggest club fair I’ve ever been to,” said Kat Gau, freshman.

The number of organizations present at the fair can prove to be an issue for some. “It’s very overwhelming. There’s a lot happening,” said Evan Pinkston, freshman.

Many clubs also allow for many different interests and identities to be shared. It can also help newer clubs gain more traction and reach a larger audience.

“We are on page three of our sign-up sheet, so it’s been going great. I have loved seeing everybody so interested in our club. This is our second year, so to have this many people is awesome,” said Caroline Wise, junior and editorial director of Belmont’s fashion magazine.

These organizations can also give students an outlet to do activities they love and may not have been able to do otherwise.

“It’s been really busy so far and we’ve had a lot of people interested,” said senior Fenna Van Wilgen.

In the end, the BruinLink fair offers an opportunity for both students and organizations to make new connections in the Belmont community.
