The Belmont softball team dropped its doubleheader against Southeast Missouri at E.S Rose Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins nearly rallied in the first game after facing a 4-1 deficit heading into the seventh inning. Chelsey Deloney brought across senior Kat Hollingsworth to pull Belmont within two, but the rally ended on a strikeout by Jordan Daly.
Belmont found itself in a similar situation in the second game as the Bruins once again trailed the Redhawks 4-2 heading into the final inning.
A sacrifice sly from Jessica Wilson allowed Ally Bessette to score but it wouldn’t be enough to avoid the sweep.
The Bruins return to action for a three-game series at Morehead State on April 11-12.
