Belmont University won the first annual Faith + Entrepreneurship Innovation Award on Monday, honoring the Social Innovation Fellowship program.
“Not only are people recognizing our work; they’re being inspired by it, which is ultimately our goal,” said sophomore Finley White, a member of the Social Innovation Fellowship.
The Social Innovation Fellowship is a sect of Belmont Innovations Labs and the Global Honors Program. Members of the fellowship study what it means to live an honorable life in depth and conduct their own research geared toward social change and community betterment.
“This honor recognizes the work of Belmont Innovation Labs, where faith, creativity and entrepreneurship come together to drive meaningful impact and human flourishing,” Belmont University said in a LinkedIn post.
White explained how the Belmont Innovation Labs and the Social Innovation fellows embody faith-based entrepreneurship: they work to solve complex problems because they believe God calls them to.
The Faith + Entrepreneurship Innovation Award was presented by the Center for Leading the Integration of Faith and Entrepreneurship, based at Miami University.
The award was “created this year to recognize bold creativity and excellence in integrating faith and entrepreneurial thinking both inside and beyond the classroom,” according to a press release on the L.I.F.E. website.
The Center for L.I.F.E. seeks to serve students, teachers and researchers by supporting their work at the intersection of faith and entrepreneurship.
“We’re just really grateful to Miami University for gifting us this,” White said.
