The Moguls Win Rock Showcase
The Moguls are longtime friends, musicians and now the winners of the 2026 Rock Showcase.
Since the start of their music careers, the Showcase Series has been on their minds.
“This is one thing that's been on our bucket list since coming to Belmont. So it's really cool to finally see it through and make it happen,” said Jake Ditomaso, drummer of The Moguls.
They only have one song released on streaming services at the moment, “who’s really on your mind?” so audiences weren’t prepared for what the scope of their music at the Rock Showcase would fully sound like.
“For most people at Belmont, it'll be our introduction, basically, because we're a very new band,” said Ryan Carpenter, a guitarist of The Moguls.
Another thing people may not know about The Moguls is the double meaning of their band name.
“There's that double meaning of the business moguls… and then the skiing moguls,” Ditomaso said. “So on stage, we wear nice suits or button down shirts and pants, and then Will and I wear ski masks and other guys wear ski goggles. So it's kind of putting those two play on words together and putting it into some sort of image we can put on stage.”
Although they couldn’t wear the ski masks for their Showcase performance, they still embodied both meanings, wearing suits and ski goggles.
Andersen said Showcase was a big opportunity for them and they were excited to step on stage and perform in front of such a big audience.
Even though they officially started their band around April 2026, they’ve been friends for much longer.
“We kind of hit a point where it was just me, Ryan and Jake trying to figure out what direction we wanted to go, and then I ended up doing a co-write with Will. Which is funny because Will was actually the first person I met at Belmont at summer orientation,” Keller Andersen, a vocalist and a guitarist for The Moguls, said.
The Moguls were second of a five-artist performance, and were announced as the winner of Rock Showcase by the producer, Angelia Fallanca.
“Everybody played such a great show. What a great night,” Will Owen, the bassist and other vocalist of The Moguls, said.
The Moguls will perform again for the Best of the Best Showcase on April 3.
