What’s new at Buzzy’s?

In December, Buzzy’s Candy Store on Belmont Boulevard closed for renovation. During this construction period, the store will be getting a new look and many new products.

Buzzy’s is scheduled to reopen in March with an expanded selection of sweets, including frozen yogurt.

The store, one of the student-run business programs in Belmont University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, has been in business since January 2010.

The renovation is in two parts, store co-owner Areej Rabie said.

First, Buzzy’s will now offer Red Mango Frozen Yogurt in the store. Red Mango is a well-known frozen yogurt chain and one of Pinkberry’s largest competitors. Buzzy’s Red Mango will be the first of its kind in Tennessee.

“We will be able to accept Bruin Bucks as payment for all of Red Mango’s product offerings, which include frozen yogurt, smoothies and specialty drinks,” Rabie said.

The store will have four to five self-serve frozen yogurt machines. Each machine will hold 8-10 flavors at a time.

“We will also rotate flavors and invent new ones to keep things interesting,” Rabie said.

The second part of the transition involves a re-branding of Buzzy’s.

“We are introducing a new logo, and the store will look different in order to complement the Red Mango vibe,” Rabie said.

“We will be upgrading and expanding our selections of candy and will also provide candy toppings to complement the frozen yogurt that will be available.”

When the store re-opens, Buzzy’s will combine new additions and old favorites.

Count on candy frogs, wax lips, wax ‘staches, Nerds, Jelly Bellys and more chocolate than Willy Wonka. For those who want more, there will be 18 new kinds of candy.

Plans are also under way for“an amazing grand opening event,” Rabie said.

Details on the event will be released via Buzzy’s Facebook page.
