Women’s basketball defeats Arkansas State 74-55

The Belmont women’s basketball team dominated Arkansas State 74-55 on Friday afternoon at the Curb Event Center.

The Bruins handled the Red Wolves with ease, leading for most of the second quarter and all of the second half. A huge 22-point fourth quarter helped Belmont secure the win.

Three Belmont starters scored 17 points each to help push the team forward and improve the Bruins’ record to 7-3.

Senior Jenny Roy matched her career high scoring 17 points and picked up seven rebounds, three assists and four blocks.

Help from senior Ellie Harmeyer was a huge factor in the Bruins’ win and their success all season. Harmeyer scored 17 points and picked up 10 rebounds against Arkansas State, and she is averaging 13.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Conference MVP favorite and senior Darby Maggard also scored 17 points and picked up seven assists.

The Bruins have one more game left to play in 2018, which will be against the University of Tennessee Lady Vols on Dec. 31 at the historic Thompson-Boling Arena at 1 p.m..
