
Belmont women’s basketball dominated at Indiana State, beating the Sycamores 90-69 Thursday night.
This game marks the third 90-point game for the Bruins this season.
Coming off the bench, graduate guard Jacee Busick had a career-high 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting and grabbed six rebounds.
In her first career start, sophomore guard Kensley Feltner also had a career high, scoring 17 points.
Junior guard Emily La Chapell kicked things off for the Bruins, hitting a 3-pointer early in the first quarter.
However, the Sycamores stayed out in front throughout much of the first quarter, leading by as many as eight. Nevertheless, the Bruins ended the quarter in front, leading 24-21.
The second quarter was much slower, with each team scoring only nine points each. At the half, the Bruins led 33-30.
After halftime, things picked back up for the Bruins. The Bruins earned two trips to the free-throw line in the first two minutes of the third quarter after zero trips to the line in the first half.
Belmont ended the third quarter leading 61-43, with Busick scoring seven points in the quarter.
The third quarter was strong defensively for the Bruins. Senior forward Kendal Cheesman grabbed two rebounds in the same possession and got a steal.
The fourth quarter also showed great defense from the Bruins, with graduate guard Tuti Jones stealing the ball early in the quarter.
A 3-pointer from La Chapell forced an Indiana State timeout at 7:00 left in the quarter.
The Bruins continued to hold strong throughout the fourth quarter, leading the Sycamores by as many as 29.
A 3-pointer by freshman guard Sanaa Tripp put the Bruins up 82-56 with 4:15 left.
Freshman guard Quinn Eubank got a layup off of a steal and assist by Tripp, putting the Bruins up by 29 at 2:31.
Senior guard Liz Suder made her first career 3-pointer with 1:42 remaining.
This game marks the Bruins’ first road win since Feb. 9.
Belmont will close out its regular season at Evansville on Saturday.
