Belmont women's soccer battled Murray State to a 0-0 draw on Thursday night at E.S. Rose Park in a defensive and physical game.

The Racers started aggressively, pushing the Bruins to adjust early. Belmont struggled with formation and communication, drawing frustration from head coach Kelsey Cameron.

Midfielder Teagan Downs picked up a yellow card midway through the first half, but despite tensions rising, goalkeeper Sydney Jones made several key saves for Belmont to keep the match even.

The Bruins earned a pair of early corner kicks but could not find the net. Both teams had roughly equal time-of-possession throughout the first half, ending it scoreless.

Murray State continued to press with multiple corner kicks in the second half, but Belmont's defense held on strong.

The Bruins ended with four shots on goal, while Jones made five saves to continue the shutout, with the final score being 0-0.

Freshman defender Katelynn Hnateck said the team focused on staying composed under pressure. “We knew we had to communicate better and keep our shape,” Hnateck said. “They were physical but we stayed calm and stuck to our game.”

Belmont travels to Evansville, Indiana, next week to play another conference game against the Aces.  -
