Bareilles tickets still on sale

Nearly a month after Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sara Barellies was scheduled to perform on campus April 15, tickets for her show are still on sale and preparations for the event are going better than expected.

“Sales are going great,” said event manager Sarah Brown. “If they continue to sell as they have since the on sale date, we will be sold out well before the show.”

Bareilles, who has penned hit singles like “Love Song” and “King of Anything,” is currently a celebrity judge on NBC’s The Sing-Off alongside Nashville artist and producer Ben Folds. Folds plans to produce Bareilles’ latest EP in his Nashville studio this fall.

The Belmont event was announced Feb. 16 and has already had Belmont students buzzing on Facebook and Twitter even minutes after the announcement.

“Sara Bareilles is performing at Belmont April 15! Who’s going with me?” posted junior John Loessy on Facebook.

This event has been a long time coming, said Brown, and “everything aligned perfectly.” The arena will already be set for the concert after the Best of the Best Showcase the night before.

Belmont has been working on this show since January, and the planning committee is very pleased with the feedback it has received.

“The Belmont community in general has really embraced this show. It’s our hope that we can make it a sellout and bring even more shows to Belmont,” she said.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the Curb Event Center box office, and cost $15 for students, $20 for faculty/staff and $25 for the general public. All seating for the concert is general admission.
