Baseball announces 2014 schedule

After setting the single season program record for most regular season victories in 2013 with 37 wins, The Belmont baseball team is already preparing for their 2014 campaign with today’s release of the 2014 schedule.

The season will feature a home-and-home series with Vanderbilt, a first-time ever series at Oklahoma who advanced to the LSU Super Regional  and a home series versus former Atlantic Sun opponent Mercer, who finished the 2013 season with a 37 RPI and earned an NCAA Tournament at-large berth.

“Our schedule offers us a tremendous challenge this year,” coach Dave Jarvis said in a release from Belmont Athletics. “We are playing exceptional non-conference opponents and we will see outstanding competition in the Ohio Valley Conference.”

Opening day is set for Feb. 14 with a home series against Bowling Green.

OVC action will begin March 7 on the road at Southeast Missouri, who eliminated the Bruins 2-1 in Belmont’s first appearance at the OVC tournament in May.

Defending OVC Champion Austin Peay comes to Rose Park Apr. 17-19.

The OVC Tournament will be held at The Ballpark at Jackson (Tenn.) May 21-25.

The Bruins will be returning All-OVC standouts Dan Ludwig and Dom Veltri.
