Belmont President Greg Jones announced the renaming of Tall Hall, Caldwell I and Caldwell II after alumni Betty Wiseman, Jack Benz and Fannie Hewlett on Thursday.

Tall Hall will now be known as Jack Benz Hall in honor of the previous Belmont Board of Trustees member.

Caldwell I will be renamed Fannie Hewlett Hall after the first African American graduate from Belmont.

Caldwell II will be renamed Betty Wiseman Hall after the founder of Belmont’s women’s basketball program.

These residence hall names celebrate three alumni icons who have enriched our university through their remarkable achievements in service, academics and athletics,” said Jones in a statement. “Betty, Jack and Fannie have contributed significantly to Belmont’s legacy, and their stories will continue to inspire the students who call these buildings home.”

Wiseman Hall is currently still under construction but will be opening in fall 2025.

There will be a dedication ceremony for the renaming on Feb. 22 during Homecoming 2025 at The Beaman Student Life Center.
