Belmont basketball is less than a month away from the start of the 2018-2019 season and is already receiving accolades from the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Bruins swept the 2018-2019 OVC Media Poll as both the men’s and women’s team were picked as favorites to win the OVC regular season.
Seniors Darby Maggard and Dylan Windler were both voted as Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Preseason Player of the Year by the OVC.
The men’s team received six first place votes, one more than rival Murray State, who won both the OVC regular season and tournament last season.
The women’s team nearly won all 12 votes, receiving 11, with one vote going to Morehead State.
Last season, Maggard was selected to the All-OVC First Team and was awarded the OVC Tournament MVP after the Bruins’ historic season.
The women’s team is coming off its best season ever after winning three consecutive OVC tournament championships, while the men’s team will be looking for its first OVC tournament championship in three years.
