Duke basketball player Madison Treece to transfer to Belmont

The Belmont women’s basketball team will have a new teammate to start off 2019 — sophomore Madison Treece from Duke University.

Belmont announced her transfer on Wednesday.

As a transfer student athlete, Treece will not be eligible to play for the Bruins until the spring of 2020, when she will as a redshirt sophomore.

During her time with the Blue Devils, the 6-foot-4-inch athlete played in 21 games.

In the 17 games she appeared in during the 2017-2018 season, Treece averaged 5.5 minutes per game, with an average of 1 point and 0.9 rebounds per game.

Treece was also a member of the Duke team that defeated Belmont in the first round of the 2018 NCAA tournament 72-58, though she didn’t play in that game.

“Madison is a great fit for the Belmont culture. She will blend in seamlessly with our young ladies,” said Belmont head coach Bart Brooks in a statement Wednesday.
