Kylee Smith signs with S-G Weiterstadt in Germany

Belmont women’s basketball alumna Kylee Smith has signed to play professionally in Germany with S-G Weiterstadt.

Smith announced her signing with the team on social media Thursday.

“I’ve always known playing professionally was a passion and dream of mine,” said Smith. “Being a Bruin is what gave me the confidence and passion I needed to pursue playing at the next level.”

Smith played an instrumental part in the Bruins’ success during her collegiate career, putting up 1,520 points, grabbing 564 rebounds and handing out 352 assists, according to the Belmont Athletics website.

Smith was also selected for the All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team three times.

Playing for current head coach Bart Brooks was a huge part of Smith’s success at Belmont and her continued love for basketball, she said.

“Coach Brooks brought an incredible new energy to the team and really made me fall in love with the game again,” she said. “He gave everyone a lot of confidence, and I really just fell in love with every little part of basketball all over again.”

Smith is excited to move to Germany and immerse herself in a new culture, she said.

“It’s crazy to think that I’m just packing up my life and moving,” she said. “I’m so excited to put myself in a new place and get out of my comfort zone — that’s how you grow.”

As she prepares for this transition, Smith is thankful for all the love and support that Belmont gave her.

“This team taught me how to live in the moment and truly love and appreciate every time I stepped onto the court,” she said. “Belmont has equipped me, challenged me, pushed me and encouraged me to pursue a career professionally.”
