Belmont freshman Amanze Egekeze has been playing basketball in some form for as long as he can remember.
“I started playing organized basketball in sixth grade, but I was always playing my older brother in my house before that,” said Egekeze. “He taught me everything I know.”
The 6-foot-9-inch Egekeze wears jersey number 32 for the Bruins.
Egekeze grew up in Lake in the Hills, Ill., a suburban area outside of Chicago, which he describes as a laid back town.
Egekeze made the decision to come to Belmont after being impressed on his only official visit to the school during his junior year.
“When I came here, I felt really comfortable with all of the people and the coaching staff. The guys really made me feel welcome,” said Egekeze. “I also really like the city of Nashville and I like the winning tradition that we have here.”
In his free time, Egekeze enjoys listening to music and playing video games.
Egekeze can be seen starting at forward for the Bruins.
