Freshman Paris Lawson didn’t always play basketball. In fact, before she started playing, she danced.
After playing basketball for the first time when she was in fourth grade, she realized that it was the sport for her and had to choose between the two.
“Dance wasn’t intense enough for me,” said Lawson.
Lawson, who is originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was attracted to Belmont a few years before she could apply.
“Every single time I came to visit the people were so genuine, so warm and welcoming. Everywhere else I looked at didn’t have the same homey, welcome feel,” said Lawson.
In her free time, she’s catching up on sleep or reading a book, her most recent read being “Five People You Meet” by Mitch Album.
Her hope for the team this year is to surprise people.
“I want us to go beyond people’s expectations,” said Lawson.
She may be new to the team, but No. 21 is ready to play.
