The Belmont men’s basketball team scored over 100 points for the third time this season to defeat Eastern Kentucky University 109-93, scoring the most points in Belmont’s Division I history.

Senior Kevin McClain helped pave the way for the Bruins with a career high of 28 points.

Senior Dylan Windler also had a huge night, as he scored a double double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

But Windler picked up his fourth foul early in the second half, which forced players like McClain and freshman Grayson Murphy to help the Bruins secure the win.

Murphy scored 18 points and had seven rebounds.

EKU came into the game with no success in the conference — with a record of 0-3. Senior Nick Mayo dropped 26 points to help keep the Colonels in the game for most of the second half, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Bruins’ offense.

Belmont’s players shot superbly overall, hitting 56 percent of their field goals and 80 percent of their free throws.

Belmont will head into a rematch against Jacksonville State on Thursday night with a conference record of 3-1.

The Bruins lost their first game against the Gamecocks 83-73 earlier in January, and have lost in the past four meetings between the teams.
