Men’s basketball crushes Morehead State with record-breaking win

Belmont’s men’s basketball team had a record-breaking night on Saturday, mowing down Morehead State 108-65 and scoring the most points ever in a single game for Belmont.

Junior Dylan Windler shined Saturday night, scoring a double-double — his 13th this season — with an unprecedented 36 points and 20 rebounds. Windler earned a career high in both categories and set a new Curb Event Center single-game record for rebounds.

The Bruins started out a little flat, missing a handful of threes, but a Dylan Windler three put Belmont in the lead at 12-10 with 11:18 to go in the first half. The Bruins never looked back, and they went into halftime with a secure lead of 51-28.

Windler continued to wow the crowd, drawing fouls after a dunk and a three in the second half.

Senior Amanze Egekeze had an excellent game as well, scoring 17 points as well as recording his 200th career 3-pointer. Junior Kevin McClain also showed dominance on the court with 15 points.

Windler went 14-17 in field goal attempts, a season high .824 field goal percentage. He also recorded his 100th career 3-pointer.

Dylan Windler and the Bruins will return to the Curb Event Center to play their homecoming and final game of the season, against cross-town rivals Tennessee State next Saturday at 7 p.m..
