Men’s tennis dominates OVC regular season

After an undefeated conference season, Belmont’s men’s tennis team won the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference regular season title last Saturday, defeating Tennessee Tech 5-2.

Both teams entered Saturday’s matchup with 5-0 conference records, but the Bruins came out on top.

Belmont sophomore Hendrik Inno was named OVC Player of the Week for the second time this season after his stellar performance against Tennessee Tech, defeating two-time OVC Player of the Year Eduardo Mena.

Belmont’s dominance in the OVC didn’t come without some adversity. At the beginning of the season, the Bruins struggled to pull out a victory in their non-conference play. But as soon as OVC play began, they were nothing short on dominant on the court.

The Bruins have now won eight matches in a row heading into the OVC Tennis Championship this weekend.

The team holds the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of the Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay match in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Nashville Centennial Sportsplex.
