For the first time in showcase history, performers took to the Fisher Center stage.
The Christian Showcase showcased featured four artists on Saturday that each brought their stories of their faith and their inspired music to the stage.
Addressing troubles of faith, the continued love of God and the importance of maintaining faith, the artists attempted to capture the spiritual journey in its entirety.
Voxology kicked off the show with a cacophony of vocals that melded and blended into a beautiful harmony.
The band lent soulful licks on the guitar and a brass section that brought some heft to a powerful vocal performance.
The group’s swaying and worshipful vocals turned the Fisher Center into a Sunday morning choir service. The director of the group danced and directed center stage through the group’s performance.
Carter Guse arrived clad in a full suit to riff in between the performers and would get the crowd excited for the night of performances.
Videos would interject introducing the performers between the sets that showcased them playfully getting ready for the performance.
Sharayah Daves was the first performer of the night and opened with a twangy, country sound.
Showing up clad in cowboy boots and leather fringe, she performed a number of songs that touched on her faith and the importance of God in her life.
Different Bible verses appeared over the band as they played their song.
Her fiddle player and pedal steel guitar player gave a smooth twang to fill the air of the songs.
Eleanor Bryan would arrive on stage next and would bring a folksier, pop sound.
In between her set, she discussed her personal faith journey and talked about some scriptures that inspired her performance.
Her floaty vocals carried throughout her performance and seemed to float through her runs in her performance.
At one point, she had the crowd sing out the verse again if they have ever felt like they needed a reminder that you can return to God’s love.
Kaitlyn Danos was the third performer of the night and came out with a more modern pop sound to her songs.
With an airy set list that flowed, she had the crowd swaying their heads back and forth as she continued to stroll across the stage.
Her songs like the other performers focused on the importance of God’s love and his grace and her personal relationship with him.
Sunflowers in the background, as well as waves on a beach, a forest, and rain and wheat fields
She talked about the foundation of the scripture that influenced her songs.
The lyrics would come across the top of the stage as she walked across the stage singing with intentionality and soaring riffs.
Her two background vocalists harmonized with her to provide a more powerful harmonization that would power through the final song.
Finally, Meredith Aguirre was introduced and came on stage with a folksy and country sound in her songs.
She sang while mountaintops and sunflowers panned behind her on the screens. She played her set while a cello and fiddle strummed on either side of her.
At one point she and her band would lead the crowd in a clap-along portion which the crowd happily joined in.
She closed out her set list with a ballad to the Lord and about how she needs his grace and about how she gives herself up to him.
Sweet strumming softly played behind her as she calls out before the drums begin to build up to have the rest of the band return to the song.
Once Aguirre got to the crescendo of the song, the band faded before the drums came back in one final time for a crashing finally that brought the crowd to their feet as they erupted in applause.
The crowd would give one final standing ovation as Aguirre was named the Christian showcase winner.
Aguirre will return along with RAWHONEY. for the Best of the Best Showcase in the Spring.
