Nashville residents of many generations gathered together this Labor Day weekend to enjoy live music at Centennial Park for Musicians Corner’s second annual Free Fest.
Partnered with local radio station Lighting 100, Free Fest is part of Musicians Corner’s mission as a non-profit organization to provide free, outdoor concerts for the Nashville community.
“Both Lightning 100 and Musicians Corner feel a deep conviction that music should be accessible to people who call Music City home,” said Justin Branum, executive producer of Musicians Corner.

Artists performing at Free Fest this year showcased a variety of bands and genres including Girl Tones, The Record Company, Yola, The Magi, Judy Blanco, the Brummies and more.
All bands are carefully selected by Lighting 100 to help create a platform for underground Nashville artists.
“I love people coming up to our tent and telling me that they've listened to the artists playing on stage on our radio station. It's just very special to be a part of that and to just make that connection with people,” said Brooke Miller, promotions department team member for Lightning 100.

Their musician selection also revolves around creating events friendly for the entire Nashville community.
“Free Fest offers free live music for all ages. It’s family-friendly, it’s for everyone,” said Dan Buckley, program director. “But more than that, when young people can come out and see musicians performing, singers singing, and crews working the stage, we hope they’re inspired. Because that’s the next generation of artists, musicians, and songwriters right there.”

Food trucks parked around the festival provided refreshments for concert goers and local vendors had booths for the community to discover local small business owners.
“I have always come to Musicians Corner ever since I moved to Nashville. This is my first time at Free Fest and I’ve really been enjoying it so far. The musicians are really talented and it's just a great environment,” said Caroline Robinson, a Nashville Resident.
Musicians Corner will continue hosting events regularly through the end of September.
