The Belmont men’s basketball team narrowly grabbed a 93-88 win over Houston Baptist Saturday, in the first game of the weekend’s 2K Classic Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.
Belmont led the Huskies in scoring for a large majority of the game, with the Bruins holding a comfortable 20-point lead multiple times during the first half.
However, the Huskies — rallying behind several scoring opportunities and Belmont turnovers — surged late in the second half, tying the Bruins 78-78 with four minutes left in the game.
The Bruins managed to hold on to a close lead until the end of the game, defeating Houston Baptist 93-88.
Junior Dylan Windler led the Bruins with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Senior Amanze Egekeze tallied 17 points and five rebounds.
The Bruins will return to the Curb Event Center Sunday at 1 p.m. to take on Seattle in Belmont’s final matchup of the 2K Classic.
