Belmont students were ready to rock at the 2011 Rock Showcase Saturday night.

The night started with Oklahoma Outfit. Students swarmed to the stage as lead vocalist Hank Born showed off his skills as a guitarist.

“I told you he could play guitar,” host David Smith said.

Next up was Ben Eggebrecht with his band My Red & Blue. Eggebrecht had the audience jumping with his opening pop/rock song “Echoes.” Fellow student and vocalist Emily Reid joined the band on stage for the song “L.A.”

Closing the showcase was Christopher Wild, whose casually dressed trio included a cape-wearing bassist. The group gave an energetic performance and closed with a crowd-pleasing cover of “Come Together.”

Christopher Wild was the final act at the showcase.

The next showcase series performance will be the ASCAP Writer’s Night on November 15 in the Troutt Theatre.
