Volleyball falls to Lady Toppers

The Belmont volleyball team fell in straight sets to the No. 24 Western Kentucky Lady Toppers Tuesday night at the Curb Event Center.

The Bruins lost 21-25, 7-25 and 24-26 to the Sun Belt team who became nationally ranked after defeating Michigan last week.

Sophomore Alex Martin led the Bruins with 14 kills in the loss, and junior Hannah Miranda had 28 assists on the night.

Tuesday night was also the Bruins’ “Dig for a Cure” night, an annual event held to raise breast cancer awareness in partnership with the Nashville branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

With the loss, the Bruins fell to 4-10 on the season. Their next home match will be Tues., Sept. 25 versus the crosstown conference rival Tennessee State Lady Tigers.
