In their opening match of the Bruin Classic, the volleyball team swept Southeastern Conference opponent Mississippi State in three sets.
Final scores for the sets were 24-15, 25-23 and 25-21.
“Mississippi State is a good school, they have an excellent volleyball program, They’re in a higher conference than us. I expected it to be a very tight match and it was,” said assistant coach Tony Powell.
With the win over the Bulldogs, the Bruins improved to 5-9 on the season.
“I think we played very consistently and that was our goal going in. We always go into a match very confident and it worked out for the best this time,” said senior opposite Jen Myer.
The team will begin Ohio Valley Conference play next Friday as they host Morehead State at the Curb Event Center at 6:00 p.m.
