Women’s basketball defeats Morehead State 77-50

The Belmont women’s basketball team crushed Morehead State 77-50 Thursday evening to bounce back after breaking its 47-straight conference win streak on Saturday.

Junior Ellie Harmeyer once again proved to be one of the most electric player on the court, scoring 20 points and picking up nine rebounds. Harmeyer is averaging 15.9 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The Bruins controlled the entire game, but the Eagles fought to cut Belmont’s lead to 37-31 at halftime.

Belmont had no trouble keeping its lead in the second half, as Harmeyer scored 9 points and senior Darby Maggard put up 8 points.

Maggard scored 21 points overall and shot 5-10 at the 3-point line.

Senior Jenny Roy had one of her highest scoring games of the season with 15 points.

The Bruins will take on Eastern Kentucky at the Curb Event Center on Saturday at 3 p.m..
