The Bruins had to crawl out of a nine-point hole late in the third quarter, coming back after a seven-point run from senior Kylee Smith.

Junior Darby Maggard, who had only made one three-pointer for the first thirty minutes of play, forced the overtime by sinking a three with just 4.5 seconds left on the clock.

On top of her third straight OVC Championship title, Maggard was also awarded OVC MVP.

Saturday’s victory also marks the first OVC Championship title for first-year head coach Bart Brooks.

Senior Sally McCabe grabbed yet another double-double, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Maggard and Smith each put up an additional 15 points.

Junior Jenny Roy was also key for the Bruins offense, grabbing 14 rebounds.

The win secures the Bruins a spot in the NCAA tournament
