A Belmont student who said he was threatened by former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas told a 911 dispatcher he saw police pull over the football player minutes before Bironas was killed in a single car crash. A series of road closures began this weekend and will continue off and on for the next year around the Wedgewood Academic Center construction site. Starting on Sat. Oct. 13, the North Garage alley was closed along with 15th Ave. S. from 6 to 9 a.m. for concrete pouring of the Wedgewood building parking garage. The alley will reopen Tuesday evening. Exchanged gunshots at the corner of 14th and Wedgewood avenues led to two wrecks near Belmont’s campus Thursday afternoon. In a campus-wide email, the university said there is no threat to campus security from the incident. People in two cars exchanged gunshots by the stop sign on 14th and Wedgewood avenues, said Metro Nashville Police Sergeant James Warren. When one vehicle tried to drive away from the scene, Warren said it hit another car and caused a wreck on 14th Avenue.
